“Is it deep enough?” shouted the kangaroo from below when the beating stopped for a moment. The woodpecker looked at the hole in the tree. Then he turned his head to see it better. The inscription was visible from every point in the forest. The octopus had used concentrated ink, the one for grand occasions, and each letter was written big and spaced out: “E L E C T I O N S.”

The text and illustrations are taken from “Le elezioni degli animali”, written by Sara Loffredi and illustrated by me for Il Battello a Vapore. After collaborating on “La costituzione degli animali,” which explains to children the birth of the Italian Constitution, Sara and I worked together to create a guide to the elections aimed at children.
